Logistics
The challenge
- There are a large number of parcels on the site. The original manual sorting method is time-consuming, resulting in low efficiency.
- Handwritten information on mail is inefficient and error-prone. In addition, handwritten paper is easy to lose, which has a negative impact on the verification of express delivery information.
- The efficiency of collection, warehouse entry and exit, sorting and other links is low, making it impossible to cope with logistical pressure during peak hours.
- Information from the various links such as sorting, storage and delivery of shipments is chaotic, easily leading to problems such as lost shipments and out-of-control shipments.
The solution
In the Netherlands, DHL has launched an information solution based on Chainway's C66 industrial handheld computer. This solution automates the receipt and dispatch, sorting and distribution of parcels at DHL stations, thanks to the application of integrated barcode identification technology. Key information on each order, from sorting to distribution and out-of-stock situations, is recorded and transmitted to the information management platform via a wireless network. The manager can obtain real-time information via the management system. Logistics data can also be provided to users for follow-up information. Workers use the C66 handheld computer to scan parcel barcodes, accurately and quickly sorting parcels and entering and exiting the warehouse, greatly improving work efficiency.
